Trying local beers is a great way to explore a new vacation destination. Many brewers only sell their beers within their home state or region, and some even use area-specific hops and malt that give them distinctive flavors. So, if you don’t try local pints while you’re there, you might not get another chance until you revisit the area. Although there aren’t any breweries in Cascade, check out these Idaho breweries in McCall during your stay at The Ashley Inn. The 30-minute drive all of these spots is worth it, whether you’re a beer novice or expert.
Although there are plenty of Idaho breweries in Boise, you can’t miss these solid choices just a little north. Many sell food as well, so you don’t have to worry about drinking on an empty stomach. Visiting breweries is the perfect way to reconnect with your travel pals, sipping on a brewski while you chat about life.
McCall Brewing Company
In operation since 1994, McCall Brewing Company always has 12 of their own beers on tap. Sample their most popular winter brew, the English-style Tangle Foot, the smoked Scotch ale Wobbily Man, the Lemon Ginger hefeweizen, and several others ranging from IPAs to stouts. The microbrewery is also a full-service restaurant serving lunch and dinner, so make sure you try the beer-battered jalapenos as an appetizer before you scarf down a half-pound KO’d burger with grilled onions, Jack cheese, mushrooms, bacon, and Wobbily Man barbecue sauce. Out of Idaho breweries, McCall Brewing Company is one of the best.
Salmon River Brewery
Because of their new brewhouse, this McCall brewery has been able to double their beer production, creating more of their beloved Udaho Gold, Nutty Ambro, Dark Villain Imperial Milk Stout, and other inventive pints. They now have a tasting room, rooftop seating, and brewery tours, so you can relish and learn about the beer you’re enjoying before you finish it. Right next door is the Salmon River Brewery Restaurant & Pub, where you can get classic pub food like burgers, sandwiches, and more to pair with your favorite ale.
Broken Horn Brewing
Live music sets the ambiance at Broken Horn Brewing. Once you try their jalapeno-inspired Hell’s Canyon, Initial Attack IPA, or Extended Attack Double IPA, pick your favorite and take it to-go in a 26-ounce pop-top, freshly canned onsite. If you don’t like to indulge in ales, porters, or stouts, Broken Horn Brewing also offers local Idaho wines as well.
