Elk Feeding Sleigh Ride & Sledding Downhill

  • CIMG6082_0864

During the winter months at the Eld Ranch in Donnelly, the Eld and Points families offer the Hap and Florence Points Memorial Sleigh Rides, one of the most unusual and popular experiences to be found in Valley County. Visitors are taken on horse-drawn sleigh wagons to view and feed the huge herd of Rocky Mountain Elk that has been coming to the ranch for over 25 years. Sleigh rides and elk feedings usually begin around mid-December. Wagons leave about every hour from 11am-4pm. For more information call Kathy  208-325-8783

Snowshoeing, once nearly forgotten as a winter recreation, has made a comeback in recent years. The Ashley Inn at Cascade blazes the trail by offering its guests free snowshoes and equipment to explore the banks of the Payette River, all within easy walking distance of the hotel. This winter wildlife wonderland often excites guests with sightings of bald eagles, great blue herons, mergansers, and river otters to name a few. Snowshoes are free for guests staying at The Ashley Inn.
