    During the winter months at the Eld Ranch in Donnelly, the Eld and Points families offer the Hap and Florence Points Memorial Sleigh Rides, one of the most unusual and popular experiences to be found in Valley County. Visitors are taken on horse-drawn sleigh wagons to view and feed the huge herd of Rocky Mountain Elk that has been coming to the ranch for over 25 years. Sleigh rides and elk feedings usually begin around mid-December. Wagons leave about every hour from 11am-4pm. For more information call 208-325-8876.

  17. The Strand Trail

    The Strand (2.2 miles) meanders along the Payette River with sweeping views of the valley and surrounding mountains. It runs between North Bridge and South Bridge in Cascade,. At its southern end, it connects to Kelly's Whitewater Park, a public nonprofit facility which offers rapids to enjoy by kayak, canoe, raft or tube. You can start your walk from the Ashley Inn, head north to Water's Edge, then follow the Payette River all the way to the South Bridge. From there you can walk through Downtown Cascade to reach the Ashley Inn again.

Guests from Water's Edge and Ashley Inn get to use our canoes and flat-water kayaks for free. Warm cinnamon rolls are served free to our guests on Saturday mornings (Memoria Day. - Labor Day) Sunday Morning, wake up to the smell of coffee, ham, eggs, fried potatoes and so much more. It's all being prepared on a 6' griddle, out beside the Payette River. $- tickets are discounted when you get them at least the day before.
